What's the difference between transfers and contributions?

Sending money to non-retirement brokerage accounts is considered a money transfer. Sending money into a retirement account is considered a contribution. Be sure to understand the IRS contribution limits.

What are the current IRS contribution limits?

Beginning in 2024, when you have earned income, the IRA contribution limit is $7,000 ($8,000 for individuals age 50 or older). If you have more than one IRA, the total contribution to all your IRAs cannot exceed the annual limit. Refer to the IRS contribution guidelines for more information.
